Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

Yubico Rounds Out PortalGuard's Two-Factor Authentication Offerings by Adding a USB Token to Prevent Unauthorized Access

AMHERST, NH and PALO ALTO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/18/12 -- Easy and cost-efficient two-factor authentication is now made available by a partnership between PortalGuard, provider of a web-based authentication platform and Yubico, provider of easy and secure login technology.

Strong two-factor authentication is vital for securing access to corporate networks and mission-critical applications with sensitive information. To provide another secure access option to their clients, PortalGuard chose Yubico's YubiKey, a small driverless USB token that simplifies the process of logging in with a One-Time Password (OTP).

"Based on our analysis of complementary strong authentication solutions, we determined the best combination of security, usability and cost would be the most important factors in selecting a partner," said Mark Cochran, Vice President of Sales at PortalGuard. "We selected the YubiKey because it provides a seamless user experience, is extremely cost effective and offers a high security complementary authentication option for the PortalGuard authentication platform."

PortalGuard offers two-factor authentication for both login and password resets to guard against unauthorized access in a world of keyloggers and man-in-the-middle attacks for both cloud-based and on-promise web applications. PortalGuard offers a tokenless approach via a mobile OTP as well as a Tokenless Transparent Toolbar (TTT) which sends a Time-based OTP or TOTP. Yubico rounds out PortalGuard's two-factor authentication offerings by adding a USB-based token. The integrated PortalGuard - YubiKey solution provides a two-factor authentication solution that is cost-effective enough for small organizations, while offering a robust solution to meet enterprise client demands.

"Yubico is pleased to partner with PortalGuard, enabling YubiKey technology to work with solid enterprise authentication software," says Stina Ehrensvard, CEO & Founder of Yubico.

The joint PortalGuard and YubiKey solution is a fully customizable standards-based authentication platform that is completely scalable and is designed to run "out-of-the-box" on your existing hardware. PortalGuard also provides an API which allows developers to tightly integrate its security controls into existing applications. Free trials of the complete, integrated solution are available through PortalGuard and trial installations are typically completed in about one hour.
