Phonebooth Announces SMB Innovator Awards Grand Prize and People’s Choice Award Winners

Cloud based business VoIP provider Phonebooth, a division of Bandwidth, today announced that Simplicity Sofas, a High Point, N.C.-based furniture manufacturer, has been named the grand prize winner of the 2012 SMB Innovator Awards. Simplicity Sofas will receive $20,000 to help fund its business, add resources or support the company’s growth and development. Humane Society of Williamson County was voted the 2012 People’s Choice Award winner after receiving a grand total of 337 votes.

All SMB Innovator Awards nominations received from Nov. 5-30, 2012 were reviewed according to specific award criteria by Phonebooth representatives and by an esteemed panel of judges representative of government, media and the SMB community. Simplicity Sofas received the highest weighted score total for developing innovative manufacturing processes that have helped grow the business in a recession and for upholding exceptional customer service.

“Congratulations to Simplicity Sofas for winning the SMB Innovator Awards grand prize and to Humane Society of Williamson County for being voted the People’s Choice winner,” said Jim Mulcahy, EVP and general manager of Phonebooth. “The creativity and innovation exhibited by this year’s award nominees made the decision process extremely challenging. We applaud the great work being accomplished by all SMBs that entered the contest and thank our judges and public voters who helped make the competition a tremendous success.”

“Simplicity Sofas is honored to accept the 2012 SMB Innovator Award from Phonebooth. We hope that our company can serve as an example to other small American manufacturers and other businesses who are struggling against today’s economic and competitive challenges,” said Jeff Frank, owner of Simplicity Sofas. “One message we hope to communicate is that innovation can come from many different sources in addition to technology. Innovation is also a lot of fun.”

From Monday, Dec. 10 to Friday, Dec. 14, Phonebooth held an open voting period for the public to elect a separate People’s Choice Award winner among the top 10 SMB Innovator Awards finalists. In addition to the $2,500 cash prize, Humane Society of Williamson County and the honorable mention runner-ups will each receive one Phonebooth User for a year plus one 3-line Yealink T-22 HD IP Phone and an engraved SMB Innovator 2012 award. The ranked list of the top 10, according to the judges’ panel votes, follows:

  1. Simplicity Sofas
  2. BRD Motorcycles
  3. Sweeps
  4. Community Technology Alliance
  5. Green Planet Catering
