Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Global Wafer Foundry Market & China Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) Industry Reviewed With Forecasts in New Research Reports

DALLAS, December 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

RnRMarketResearch.com adds "Research on Global and China Wafer Foundry Industry, 2012" and "Research on China's Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) Industry, 2012-2017" reports to its store.

Since 2011, the world's major wafer foundries are accelerating the expansion of advanced process capacity scale. With the flourish of smart phone and tablet PC market, the demand for advance process which owns low cost and high efficiency increased rapidly, therefore, the wafer foundries including TSMC, UMC, Global Foundries and Samsung have expanded production capacity actively.

The global market share of China mainland's wafer foundries reached 13.3% in 2006. However, this proportion decreased year by year, and the global market share dropped to 10% and less than 9% in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

In 2011, the annual output value of global semiconductor foundries was nearly $ 30 billion, and TSMC occupies more than 40% of the market share. With the flourish of UMC, Samsung, Intel and GlobalFoundries, in order to maintain the leading position, TSMC invested $ 5.9 billion to expand 12-inch plant and improve the production capacities of 65/55 nm and 40 nm, and the capital expenditure amounted to $ 7.8 billion in 2011, mainly invested in Wafer Fifteenth Factory. In 2012, the capital expenditure is expected to reach $8-8.5 billion.

In 2011, UMC gained 35.7% stock equity of HeJian Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd and became its largest shareholder. In the future, UMC will continue to negotiate the acquisition of stock equity with other shareholders so as to accelerate the production capacity expansion, and also to improve the competitiveness by virtue of capacity advantage complement between China Mainland and Taiwan; at the same time, UMC began 28 nm pilot production since the first quarter of 2012, it is estimated that by the end of 2012, the revenue of 28 nm will occupy 5% of the total revenue, and the capital expenditure plan is $ 2 billion in 2012.

The global Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) market has entered the mature stage and the global TPE demand volume has reached 4.05 million tons. At present, in the TPE consumption structure, the proportion of TPS, TPO, TPU and TPEE is 44%, 31%, 9.5% and 6.5% respectively, and other kinds of TPE accounts for about 9%. Styrene TPE still occupies the top position, but the product share shows the downward trend. Currently, TPO has entered automobile and medicine markets, and also began to replace traditional thermoset rubber and PVC materials, so the market share of TPO will expand continuously and the consumption will increase rapidly.

At present, China's TPE has developed into more than ten varieties, and has replaced a part of rubber, synthetic rubber and plastic. TPE is widely used in auto parts industry (tubes, belt, mat and plate, etc.), construction industry, shoemaking, medical products, sealing products, packaging products, electric wire and cable, daily life products, toys, sports equipments, hardware, power tools, communications, electronic products, household appliances, adhesives and the modification of polymer materials. Of which, followed by construction industry, medical and daily life product field, automobile industry is the most important TPE application field, which accounting for about one third.

In recent years, people pay more attention to product safety instead of production safety, namely, people concern more about the environmental protection products. TPE is a new type of environmental protection material, so people conducted a mass of researches on TPE and has achieved breakthrough in energy saving and three wastes (waste gas, waste water and waste residues) reduction aspects. While the research works of TPS synthetic technology, the polymer characterization work is also deepened. This situation is specifically manifested in two aspects, namely, the increase of separate analytical technical content and the combination of different analytical techniques. At present, people has developed atomic force microscope (AFM) which can further study the TPE. In short, TPE will develop in the following aspects:

  • Adopt new technology produced TPE
  • TPE composite technology
  • Cross-linking TPE with durability
  • Creation of new demand which related with ecology and material recycling
  • Develop new TPE market
