Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

Centrix Software Selected as Featured Speaker at 3rd Annual UP 2012 Cloud Computing Conference

Centrix Software, a leading provider of workspace computing solutions, today announced that it was chosen to speak at the UP 2012 Cloud Computing Conference on December 12, 2012 in San Francisco and online. Wally MacDermid, Head of U.S. Operations for Centrix Software, will deliver the presentation, “Eliminating the Application Bottlenecks that Derail Cloud Implementations.”

“Although most enterprises support hundreds of applications, IT often doesn’t know what’s being used, by whom, how frequently, and via what delivery methods. This lack of knowledge, combined with bloated application portfolios, can be disastrous for cloud migrations. Not only would it be prohibitively costly and time-consuming to migrate all those applications to the cloud, it would also be the wrong move for many applications that would be better served by onsite hosting or running virtually on desktops,” said MacDermid. “The good news is that enterprises can easily avoid these problems and pave the way for a successful cloud migration. I’m excited to show UP attendees how to make this happen.”

MacDermid’s session, “Eliminating the Application Bottlenecks that Derail Cloud Implementations,” takes place December 12, 2012 at 11:00am PST at the South San Francisco Conference Center. MacDermid will discuss key application-related issues that should be top-of-mind for CIOs and senior IT professionals planning cloud migrations, including:

  • The consequences of not rationalizing an application portfolio before embarking on a cloud transition.
  • How to gain the rich, detailed insights into users, application usage and device usage needed to completely understand –and then rationalize –their existing environment.
  • The type of analytics required to get the “big data” on end-user computing needed for an efficient transition.
  • How to decide which applications make sense for the cloud and which are best served by other delivery methods.

How to Participate
