Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

Guidance Software Releases EnCase® Portable Version 4, the Industry’s Simplest and Most Powerful Portable Forensic Triage Solution

Guidance Software Inc. (NASDAQ:GUID), the World Leader in Digital Investigations™, announced today the release of EnCase® Portable Version 4, the simplest to use and most powerful field investigation tool available for digital investigation teams. EnCase Portable Version 4 enables complete forensic triage and data collection in the field for both seasoned forensic professionals and non-technical personnel.

“With increasing demands on digital investigation teams, we’ve seen a growing need for powerful, easy-to-use field solutions,” said Victor Limongelli, Guidance Software President and CEO. “Features like the ability to preview data while it’s being collected in the field can be of tremendous benefit to investigators, and now we’re providing EnCase Portable at a price that lets them do much more with fewer budget dollars.”

EnCase Portable runs on a 5 GB USB drive, which enables even untrained users to easily and rapidly boot a target computer to the USB drive (or direct data to another, larger USB drive), and run a pre-configured data search and collection job using the industry accepted EnCase Evidence File. Further processing and analyzing of the data can be done using EnCase Forensic.

EnCase Forensic has long been the industry-standard computer investigation solution for digital forensics practitioners who need to conduct efficient, forensically sound data collection and investigations using a repeatable and defensible process. With several features developed in response to customer requests, EnCase Portable v4 represents the most advanced and easy-to-use field solution for digital investigators.

EnCase Portable V4 is integrated with EnCase® Forensic Version 7.05 for more robust functionality within a simpler interface. Investigators can now triage or preview data as it is being collected as well as perform SQL-based analysis.

The product also provides two options for analyzing data acquired from running jobs. The first is the analysis option, which enables analysis from within a set of interlinking data browsers as well as drill-down into collected information. The advanced analysis option delivers EnCase Analytics functions. This release also makes it possible for field investigators to search metadata, dynamically add images to reports, and perform easier navigation and selection of hash sets.

About EnCase Portable

EnCase® Portable is powerful EnCase digital investigations software delivered on a USB device to enable forensic professionals and non-experts alike to quickly and easily triage and collect vital data in a forensically sound and court-proven manner. EnCase Portable makes it possible for even new members of an investigations team to quickly review information stored on a computer in the field, in real time, without altering or damaging the potential evidence collected.
