Santa Rides A Harley & Leads 1,500 Other Bikers In The 25Th Annual LA Skid Row Toy Ride Bringing Thousands Of Toys And Brand New Bikes To Impoverished Children

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, December 9th, Santa Claus will go full throttle with 1,500 Harley-Davidson motorcycle riders to the Fred Jordan Mission on Skid Row, bringing thousands of brand new toys and bikes to some of Los Angeles' most underprivileged children.  For the last 25 years, Harley-Davidson of Glendale and its' owner Oliver Shokouh has helped organize a caravan of over 1,500 caring and compassionate motorcycle enthusiasts.

The Ride will begin at Harley-Davidson of Glendale, located at 3717 San Fernando Road in Glendale.  After a 9:00 a.m. pancake breakfast hosted by Harley-Davidson, the motorcyclists will depart from Glendale to the Fred Jordan Mission, located at 445 Towne Avenue at the corner of Towne Avenue and 5th Street.

1,500 Harley Davidson Motorcyclists will arrive in a parade decked out for Christmas, decorated like sleighs for the holidays, with colorful Christmas decorations, stuffed reindeer, teddy bears and Santas.  Upon arrival, these generous riders will distribute brand-new donated toys to needy children and bring the joy of the holiday season into their lives.

This is the Silver Anniversary of the Skid Row Toy Ride which has provided toys for over 75,000 impoverished children in the past 25 years.  In honor of their leadership, Willie Jordan will be presenting a special commemorative jacket to Oliver Shokouh, owner of Harley-Davidson of Glendale.

The Skid Row Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Toy Ride is open to all motorcyclists, who are encouraged to donate toys and gifts to the needy this Christmas.  Sponsors include Golden State Harley Owners Group (HOG); Oliver Shokouh, owner of Harley-Davidson of Glendale; the City of Glendale; Abate Local #1; the Glendale Police Departments and Starbucks.

The Mission serves hungry, impoverished families and children every day of the year and their Christmas outreaches are legendary, with more than 60,000 impoverished families and children looking to the Mission for their only Christmas. The Mission is asking businesses, churches, groups and individuals of good will to make charitable donations of food, new clothes, new toys, diapers and blankets for cold winter nights.  Cash donations are also welcome - - and tax-deductible.

If you are able to help, please call 1-626-915-1981.  Or donate online at: www.fjm.org and major credit cards are appreciated.   Donations are tax-deductible.

The Fred Jordan Missions, open 365 days a year since 1944, feeds hundreds of hungry people and provides assistance to impoverished individuals and families.  The Mission is a non-profit, faith-based, educational and relief organization that focuses on education, job training, and self-reliance.
