Dave DeWalt, Who Sold McAfee to Intel, Moves to FireEye

FireEye lets businesses protect themselves against malicious software

Dave DeWalt, who sold McAfee to Intel for $7.7 billion last year, more than Intel has ever paid for an acquisition, has been named CEO of the fast-growing security start-up FireEye, which he figures to take public next year while he focuses on growth over profitability.

FireEye lets businesses protect themselves against malicious software that can get past traditional anti-virus programs offered by companies such as McAfee and Symantec.

DeWalt told Reuters the start-up has 400 employees and more than 700 customers.

He's been chairman of FireEye since last June and means to hire sales and marketing staff around the globe.
