Cloudant Appoints Perry Stoll as Vice President of Engineering and Operations
Former Akamai Technologies executive to expand engineering and operations teams for cloud database service

BOSTON, Dec. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cloudant today announced the appointment of industry veteran Perry Stoll as vice president of engineering and operations. With more than 15 years of experience in the technology industry, Stoll will be responsible for expanding Cloudant's product engineering and system operations teams, and for managing the company's product delivery timeline.

"Perry spent the last decade at Akamai developing products and managing engineering teams, and the Cloudant executive team will benefit from his extensive track record," said Cloudant CEO Derek Schoettle. "We're committed to continuously developing our database as a service with the advanced features our customers need. With Perry's expertise, he will no doubt help us grow our product and operations teams with talented engineers, turning out new features to Cloudant customers even faster."

Of his recent appointment, Stoll commented: "I'm very excited about joining Cloudant to help further strengthen the company's position in the database-as-a-service market. Cloudant is reshaping the way mobile and Web apps are developed and brought to market, and delivering a top-tier user experience to customers is our most important priority in engineering and operations."

Before joining Cloudant, Stoll was with Akamai Technologies for more than 13 years. Most recently, he served as the senior director of engineering and data strategy for the company's Advertising Decision Solutions (ADS) group. In this role, he was responsible for growing the engineering, analytics, and operational teams working on Akamai's online advertising business. Prior, he held important positions on the company's professional services, product management, and marketing teams. Previously, Stoll was a principal software architect for ScanSoft, Inc., a Xerox company, which was acquired by Nuance Communications. He is a graduate of Brown University where he earned M.S. and B.S. degrees in electrical engineering.

About Cloudant

Cloudant provides developers of large or fast-growing Web and mobile applications with the world's first globally distributed "data layer as a service" for loading, storing, analyzing, and distributing application data. The Cloudant Data Layer is a managed service that helps developers to eliminate the delays, costs, and distractions inherent in working with databases and their administrators, while providing unmatched scalability, availability, and performance. This capability accelerates time-to-market and time-to-innovation, because it frees developers from the mechanics of data management so they can focus exclusively on creating great applications. Cloudant is privately held and backed by top-tier investors including Avalon Ventures, In-Q-Tel, and Y Combinator. For more information, visit https://cloudant.com/.
