Apperian Selects Xactly Express to Align Sales Performance with Fast Growth

Xactly Corporation, the leader in on-demand incentive compensation and sales performance management, today announced that mobile application management company Apperian, Inc. has selected Xactly Express to improve sales rep visibility and results. Xactly Express is the industry’s first self-service sales compensation management software designed specifically for small to medium-sized businesses.

Boston-based Apperian's EASE® platform enables enterprises to securely access, manage and deploy mobile applications and corporate data to workers. Its cloud-based solution is instantly turned on, scales to tens of thousands of users and is rapidly being adopted by the world’s largest corporations to securely manage the full lifecycle of mobile apps for iOS, Android and Blackberry.

As the company’s growth accelerated and the size of its sales team expanded, the process of calculating commissions was becoming increasingly unwieldy.

“We have a fairly straightforward comp system, but we’re growing our field team so quickly that we found we were spending more and more time each month calculating commissions,” said Brian Day, Apperian’s chief financial officer. “After we calculated commissions for all of the salespeople in a spreadsheet, it still didn't translate into a statement that was easy to present to them or that could scale as we grow.”

Day said the company also wanted the capability for its reps to have real-time access to where they stood at any time relative to their compensation.

With Xactly Express, reps will have end-to-end visibility into customer activity – from the initial point of contact through the final sale. The system will eliminate current spreadsheet-based processes and reps will be able to check statements online quickly. Sales managers will be able to pull reports and view individual and team performance at any time, allowing them to identify and resolve potential performance issues.

“To capitalize on every business advantage, fast-growth companies like Apperian are trading spreadsheets for easy-to-use, enterprise-class solutions,” said Scott Broomfield, General Manager of Express. “As Apperian implements Express, we will use our big-data analytics to help them create compensation plans that motivate their sales reps and align with their company goals.” Day said a key advantage of Express will be "visibility and the simplification of the process. Given how fast we're growing here, the primary benefit is relieving our finance staff of this exercise every month by automating as much as possible. We're fool-proofing the process.”
