BEA and Prima Aim to Drive Insurance Industry SOAs
BEA Aqualogic to Integrate with Prima IBCS to Create SOAs
Jul. 13, 2006 01:00 PM
BEA Systems has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Prima Solutions designed to accelerate the adoption of Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) in the insurance industry.
The two companies have already integrated Prima IBCS, Prima Solutions’ insurance reference model with the BEA WebLogic Platform, and are now working to integrate this extensive insurance object model with the award-winning BEA AquaLogic suite of SOA products.
Prima IBCS is an extensive insurance object model spanning most insurance domain areas. It is the result of several years of R&D by insurance experts and object-oriented specialists and documents over 100 core processes and 1000 classes spanning Life (group and individual), Property & Casualty (car, home) and Reinsurance, as well as new business, underwriting, contract lifecycle management and claims processing. By integrating Prima IBCS with the BEA AquaLogic suite of SOA products, BEA and Prima Solutions will enable insurers to accelerate the deployment of new composite applications while leveraging existing infrastructure.
“Integrating systems to support effective business processes is a tremendous burden for the insurance industry. Legacy systems, packaged applications and custom-built systems often use different data models with disparate formats, values and meanings,” said John Knightly, vice president, industry & partner marketing, BEA Systems. “Pairing BEA’s products and SOA leadership with Prima IBCS is designed to provide an ideal combination that can help insurers develop a common enterprise model which can facilitate the creation of processes and services across systems at reduced cost.”
