SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/29/12 -- The Russell Canada Index has significantly outperformed the Russell UK Index since Mark Carney was appointed governor of the Bank of Canada in 2007, suggesting superior governance for Carney in his role. Carney has now been appointed as the next governor of the Bank of England, with a five-year term set to begin in July 2013. He will be the first foreign national to head the Bank in its 318 year history, signaling a departure from tradition in the UK. Carney was appointed as governor of the Bank of Canada on October 4th, 2007 and during his tenure has been credited with helping to shield Canada from the worst of the global financial crisis. Russell Global Index returns during this time period support this claim.
