Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Nevada System of Higher Education Moves to OnBase Online, Hyland Software's Cloud Solution
Cloud enterprise content management solution reduces up-front hardware investments and relieves the administrative burden on the Nevada System of Higher Education's IT department

CLEVELAND, Nov. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Overseeing eight public colleges and universities and enrolling more than 100,000 students per year, the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) turned to OnBase Online to streamline processes across the state without the burden of maintaining additional infrastructure. OnBase Online, Hyland Software's cloud-deployed enterprise content management (ECM) solution, provides the NSHE with a reliable and scalable solution capable of integrating with their existing systems. Truckee Meadows Community College, the only community college in the NSHE, was the first school to implement OnBase Online.

Truckee Meadows Community College converted to OnBase Online from Singularity, their legacy ECM system. Peter Miller, program director at Truckee Meadows Community College, knew that implementing OnBase was crucial to continuing to streamline processes and improve student service. "Singularity was being used like a filing cabinet," said Miller. "Using OnBase, we are able to process documents faster, build powerful workflows and seamlessly integrate with PeopleSoft, our student information system."

As a cloud-deployed ECM solution, OnBase Online provides instant and continuous access to the latest ECM technology. In addition, OnBase Online greatly reduces the up-front costs and administrative responsibilities required to maintain the solution by utilizing one of the most powerful server and networking infrastructures on the market. "One of the major benefits of OnBase Online is that we do not have to worry about managing servers, redundancy or availability," said Miller. "Hyland takes care of everything, so we don't have to burden our IT staff with replacing, upgrading or maintaining hardware and software."

Facing a tight fiscal deadline, Truckee Meadows Community College was able to implement their solution in only six weeks. "Hyland did an amazing job implementing our OnBase Online solution and converting from Singularity in only six weeks," said Miller. "We met all of our deadlines and user satisfaction skyrocketed. Additional schools in the NSHE are planning on moving to OnBase Online in the near future."
