Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Top Oregon Pinot Noir Auction Funds Healthcare Access
¡Salud! Assists Seasonal Vineyard Workers

HILLSBORO, Ore., Nov. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- ¡Salud! The Oregon Pinot Noir Auction celebrated its 21st birthday with animated bidding on unique, premium wines and exciting live and silent auction items. Over $640,000 was raised, placing the two-day event among the Northwest's top fundraisers. Held November 9 and 10, ¡Salud! focused on highly-prized, exclusive Pinot Noir cuvées crafted by 42 wineries in the Vintners Circle, and generated bids in excess of $1,000 for the majority of the 210 case lots.

Proceeds support access to healthcare services for Oregon's seasonal vineyard workers and their families. The mission touched over 3,600 lives in 2011 alone.

Speaking on behalf of fellow auction chairs Paul Sehdev MD, and Will Neuhauser, Donna Morris of Winderlea Vineyard & Winery noted the generosity of the well-represented winemaking and medical communities: "Our winemakers contributed spectacular wines and supporters responded with terrific energy. Everyone involved is passionate about ¡Salud! and this is an outstanding show of support and respect for a workforce without whom our wines would not be possible."

The ¡Salud! medical team is led by Leda Garside RN, MBA, recipient of the March of Dimes 2012 Distinguished Nurse of the Year Award. Garside introduced the special appeal paddle raise with a plea to give generously to support an ever-increasing demand for services. The overwhelming response raised $106,000, galvanized by sizeable contributions by Ronni Lacroute, WillaKenzie Estate, and Scott and Annie Shull, Raptor Ridge Winery.

Oregon wine pioneer, Dick Erath, received a standing ovation as he accepted the 2012 Legacy Winemaker Award for his contributions to the industry and steadfast support for ¡Salud!

The ¡Salud! program is supported by the Oregon wine community and Tuality Healthcare to provide access to healthcare services for seasonal vineyard workers and their families-- a mobile workforce that cannot qualify for health insurance plans due to their temporary employment status.

Through ¡Salud! workers receive health education, cholesterol and diabetes screenings, dental care, assistance with medical paperwork, and more. Referrals are made for necessary medical aid beyond the financial means of most recipients including pre-natal care, hospitalizations, and surgeries. In 2011 alone, over 7,000 medical and dental encounters were recorded.

The 2013 benefit will be held on November 8 and 9.
