VSS Monitoring Partners and Integrates With Riverbed to Further Extend Network Analysis and Visibility for Enterprises
Integration Delivers Precision Time Stamping for Riverbed Cascade Application-Aware Network Performance Management Solutions; Enables Increased Visibility and Control of Networks

SAN MATEO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/14/12 -- VSS Monitoring, a leader in network packet brokers (NPBs), today announced that its NPB solutions integrate seamlessly with the Riverbed® Cascade® product family to further extend advanced network analysis and visibility for enterprises. VSS Monitoring also announced today a technology partnership with Riverbed Technology under the Riverbed Technology Alliance (RTA) Program, to complement Riverbed Cascade products and deliver a network analysis and visibility solution with precision time stamping for service providers, government, and enterprise customers.

As a result of this partnership and integration, Cascade products can read the time stamping functionality of the VSS Monitoring vBroker™, Distributed Series and Protector Series solutions, which give customers more granular and accurate time stamping. The combined solution enables accelerated network analysis and shortens time to resolution of network and application performance problems across service provider, enterprise, and government IT environments. The partnership provides mutual customers with nanosecond precision time stamps for packet capture and analysis when using the Riverbed Cascade application-aware network performance management (NPM) solution and VSS Monitoring's vBroker, Distributed Series and Protector Series NPBs.

"The time stamp functionality from VSS Monitoring gives Riverbed Cascade customers increased visibility into network and application performance problems for more rapidly addressing performance issues," said Dimitri Vlachos, senior director of marketing and products, Cascade Business Unit at Riverbed.

VSS Monitoring's hardware-based time stamping capabilities combined with VSS Monitoring vMesh architecture provide an effective way to troubleshoot and measure application response times, jitter and latency across the entire network. As packets flow through the VSS Monitoring vBroker™, Distributed and Protector appliances, they are time stamped at the time of packet capture to create a permanent time record, precise to the nanosecond, that remains permanently embedded in the packet. The packet is then captured and analyzed by Cascade products, enabling superior visibility across LAN, WAN and Internet boundaries for more accurate performance monitoring and faster troubleshooting -- all of which can lead to significant reduction in capital and operational expenses.

"Riverbed delivers industry-leading network performance management solutions, and integrating with Cascade products enables new and important time stamping and network visibility capabilities for joint customers," said Dean Beaver, VP Global Sales and Alliances, VSS Monitoring.

VSS Monitoring is a leader in brokering traffic for performance and security tools on dynamic networks deployed by enterprises, governments and service providers. With a large and feature-rich family of network packet brokers, VSS Monitoring allows IT professionals to see into the farthest reaches of even the largest networks. VSS Monitoring's innovative Network Intelligence Optimization Systems™ for passive monitoring and active inline tools help prevent problems from reaching end users, and greatly improves the ROI of tool deployments.

Riverbed Cascade products provide actionable, real-time information into network and application performance to help organizations make smarter decisions, and monitor and troubleshoot performance issues faster and more easily. It not only proactively alerts to problems but also pinpoints where the problems are occurring and the source. Cascade provides a simple and elegant architecture that seamlessly combines flow and packet collection in a single user interface for true end-to-end visibility into network and application performance across WAN, LAN, virtualized, and cloud data centers.
