Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Double Down On Diabetes
Supporting A Proven Program In Honor Of World Diabetes Day

THOMASVILLE, Ga., Nov. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- - You might say that the folks at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health are 'maximizers.' They seek to build the capacity to educate citizens on Diabetes prevention through community organizations nationwide. With the CDC estimating a whopping 79 million Americans currently having prediabetes, grass roots diabetes prevention education is a must.

Findings presented at this year's American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions® indicated that diabetes prevention programs, like those supported by Emory, not only improve quality of life but also save money. William H. Herman, MD, MPH, Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at the University of Michigan and co-investigator of the DPP Research Group, presented these and other findings at the Scientific Sessions, and is quoted as saying, "This puts diabetes prevention in the category of prenatal care or pediatric immunizations. It's dramatic when an intervention can improve the health of the population and potentially save money at the same time."

In recognition of World Diabetes Day (November 14th) and the great strides being made by Emory's Rollins School of Public Health and its affiliates, Emory partner Blackberry Patch has announced its 'Double Down on Diabetes' promotion, covering World Diabetes Day and the week after (November 14November 20). Harry T. Jones, partner at Blackberry Patch, says, "With every bottle of Sugar Free syrup we sell, we make a donation to Emory." The 'Double Down on Diabetes' promotion effectively doubles the amount of that donation, and will be in place for both the Sugar Free Sweetness and Blackberry Patch brands of Sugar Free syrups produced by Blackberry Patch. When asked why the Blackberry Patch & Sugar Free Sweetness brands support Emory, Mr. Jones advised, "It is an effective means of helping people who are prediabetic to avoid a permanent compromise in their health." Randy Harvey, president, said, "It is our goal to provide delicious, great tasting Sugar Free syrups to all people, making it easier for them to lower their sugar intake without compromising on flavor."

About Blackberry Patch: Blackberry Patch is a Thomasville, GA-based producer of specialty fruit & Sugar Free syrups. In business for 24 years, the company serves the specialty & Sugar Free syrup needs of consumers nationwide through quality retailers such as Whole Foods Market, The Fresh Market, Le Gourmet Chef, Ross Stores and others, and offers syrups direct to consumers on SugarFreeSweetness.com and BlackberryPatch.com.
