Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Cvent Continues to Advance Meetings Technology to Improve Meeting Planner, Attendee and Supplier Experience

Cvent, the world’s largest cloud-based event management platform, today announced numerous enhancements across all product categories including the Cvent Supplier Network CSN, Web Survey, Event Management, Strategic Meetings Management and eMarketing. The more than 100 new enhancements are expected to improve the user experience for both event planners and venues by offering more robust, easier to use technology.

“We take feedback from the planner and supplier communities very seriously and constantly update our platform accordingly,” said Dave Quattrone, Chief Technology Officer at Cvent. “Technology needs to evolve at a very fast pace to keep up with the demands of the market and we are committed to continuous innovation and providing best-in-class solutions to our users.”

Key enhancements include:

  • Cvent Supplier Network: Planners and suppliers now have mobile access to CSN, meeting rapidly growing demand for access on the go. Planners can review and manage RFPs sent to any one of the 200,000 event venues featured on the CSN platform, while suppliers can view and act on group business leads, leading to faster response times and improved client satisfaction.
  • Web Survey: Hotels can now choose to integrate Cvent’s web surveys with TripAdvisor, allowing post-stay survey data collected through Cvent’s platform to be published automatically to TripAdvisor. This greatly increases the volume and depth of feedback, and stands to drive the total number of positive reviews upward.
  • Event Management: A new resource management feature helps planners manage schedules for people, places and things. Planners can now easily track and schedule resources like speakers, meeting rooms, collateral and equipment such as projectors and computers.

Another key update to the Event Management tool is the option to integrate real-time data from other applications or databases at the time of registration to further streamline the attendee registration process.
  • Strategic Meetings Management: Organizations can optimize the use of internal meeting facilities and drive down meeting costs by adding their own event space into their strategic sourcing environment in Cvent. Additionally, there are new configuration options that can alert procurement professionals when planners are not compliant with established sourcing policies.
