Imaging Healthcare Specialists Teams Up for Breast Cancer Awareness at Komen San Diego Race for the Cure

SAN DIEGO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/08/12 -- On Sunday, November 4th, Imaging Healthcare Specialists participated in the Komen San Diego Race for the Cure in Balboa Park to raise valuable funds for breast cancer research and local patient programs. As part of their continued commitment to women's health, Imaging Healthcare Specialists partnered with the Council of Community Clinics, bringing together a team of 110 walkers and runners in support of those affected by this terrible disease while working toward ending breast cancer forever.

"Imaging Healthcare Specialists is a key partner in providing diagnostic imaging for many of our patients and in recognizing our patients who are cancer survivors," said Gary Rotto, Director of Strategic Communications at the Council of Community Clinics. "We created a joint team of staff and patients to celebrate the survivors amongst us as well as increase awareness in our clinics to Know Your Curves."

Imaging Healthcare Specialists' Know Your Curves initiative shines light on the importance of early detection. The American Cancer Society (ACS) and the American College of Radiology recommends that all women should undergo annual screening mammography beginning at age 40. With 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime and 3/4 of women diagnosed having no family history or other factors putting them at high risk, the Know Your Curves campaign emphasizes the significance of annual mammograms and clinical breast exams for all women beginning at age 40.

Imaging Healthcare Specialists strives to be the leader in breast imaging and is proud to be recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) facility.
