Cloud Spectator Compares Pricing Structure of IaaS Providers; Amazon EC2 Not Necessarily Top Cost Saver

BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/06/12 -- Cloud Spectator, a leading independent cloud computing analyst firm that provides research and data on Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), today unveiled its newest research report, Infrastructure as a Service Market Metrics Report: Industry Pricing Comparison. The company conducted extensive cost analysis among 20 IaaS providers for different server configurations. The data found that Amazon EC2 did not score as the most cost-effective option for companies looking at short-term projects.

The Pricing Comparison report provides companies with a guide to understand competitor pricing, helping enterprises to make more informed decisions about their cloud computing needs. Other key findings from the report include:

  • Rackspace's prices for larger instances have decreased significantly following its implementation of OpenStack.
  • Storm on Demand makes you pre-pay for the month then credits anything unused back to the user's credit card or account.
  • Amazon and CloudSigma offer significant long-term discounts for its users compared to an industry average.
  • GoGrid has simplified its discount model and cut prices by one third across all cloud server sizes.
