SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Bateman Group, an award-winning integrated public relations and social media communications firm, today announced that veteran journalist Elinor Mills has been appointed to the newly created position of Director of Content and Media Strategy based in the company's San Francisco headquarters. A professional journalist for more than 22 years and covering technology since 1994, Mills has reported for prominent industry news outlets including AP, Reuters, CNET and IDG News Service. In this new role, Mills will lead Bateman Group's fast-growing content creation bureau and serve as a resource for guidance on media strategy to all Bateman clients across all practice areas, with a special focus on Enterprise Cloud/SaaS, Security and Mobility. She will also work closely with other members of agency senior management, including CEO and Founder Fred Bateman; SVP and GM of San Francisco Bill Bourdon; and Vice President Lisa Melsted to make sure all written communications meets or exceeds the high standard for quality for which Bateman Group is known. "Since 2004, Bateman Group has differentiated itself by our content-driven approach to PR and exceptional writing," said Fred Bateman, CEO and founder, Bateman Group. "Maintaining a level of quality few can match requires real time and attention. To scale, we need to attract and retain the very best writers in the business. Elinor Mills is one of them — and not just for the quality of her prose, but because she takes the time to understand her material assiduously." Mills joins Bateman Group after more than seven years working as a senior writer for CNET. During her tenure there, Mills covered Google, online search and advertising for the first two years and the Internet security beat for the last five years. Prior to CNET, she was a foreign correspondent for Reuters based in Lisbon, Portugal and a technology reporter in Reuters' San Francisco bureau. Before that, Mills reported for The Industry Standard and IDG News Service covering a wide range of technology sectors, including Internet security, mobile, web infrastructure and semiconductors. "After two decades covering breaking technology news, I was eager to find a new opportunity where I could apply my writing, research and editing skills in new and innovative ways," said Elinor Mills, director of content and media strategy, Bateman Group. "Bateman Group has always stood out to me as more strategic and creative in their approach. I'm looking forward to working with other members of the senior management team and their diverse portfolio of market-leading companies to grow a vibrant, unique content practice for the agency."
