Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

GlobalMed Recognized for Innovative Leadership

GlobalMed—the worldwide leader in real-time healthcare delivery systems—is the recipient of the “Emerging Entrepreneur Award” from the prestigious W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.

GlobalMed received the award at the W.P. Carey School’s 2012 Spirit of Enterprise Awards ceremony held Nov. 1 with more than 600 business and community leaders present at the Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix.

The awards honored five companies based in Arizona that have made noteworthy contributions in creating jobs, donating to charities, overcoming adversity and promoting innovation.

GlobalMed Founder and Managing Director Joel E. Barthelemy told the audience that he was honored to receive the award among many talented and innovative companies. “This truly is a great honor,” Barthelemy said, speaking without notes. “I come from humble beginnings and never count on receiving an award. If you look at the other companies in this competition and the great things they’re doing, you can understand why I didn’t prepare an acceptance speech.”

Barthelemy said he is “jazzed” to work every day in an environment focused on helping make healthcare more accessible. “We are going to help change this global problem with inefficiencies and the lack of access to the absolute best care for a given illness, whether they’re episodic or chronic,” Barthelemy said.

GlobalMed was among 10 companies chosen as finalists for the five awards. The other award winners included 180 Degrees Automotive, Daphne’s Headcovers, LawLogix Group LLC, and Total Transit.

The other five finalists were: CyberMark International, Hard Dollar, NJOY Electronic Cigarettes, Optimal Performance Training and Real Property Management East Valley.

GlobalMed designs interoperable and customizable solutions for healthcare providers that lower costs, increase access, and enhance quality of care, that collectively improve patient satisfaction. From high-definition exam cameras to real-time, cloud-based PACS, these telemedicine solutions meet the medical data and image delivery needs of a full range of healthcare specialties.

According to the 2012 Inc. 500 List of the nation’s Fastest Growing Companies, GlobalMed was #95 overall and number seven among healthcare companies. In September, Modern Healthcare Magazine placed GlobalMed as #2 among the nation’s hottest healthcare companies.
