Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Cloud Standards Customer Council to Hold Webinar to Introduce “Impact of Cloud Computing on Healthcare” Whitepaper

The Cloud Standards Customer Council (CSCC) will be holding a webinar to introduce a new whitepaper, “Impact of Cloud Computing on Healthcare,” on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11am. The webinar will be hosted by Melvin Greer, Senior Fellow, Lockheed Martin, Chair of the CSCC Steering Committee and Chair of the CSCC Healthcare Working Group, along with members who worked on the whitepaper. The whitepaper itself will be published and available for free download next week.

The “Impact of Cloud Computing on Healthcare” whitepaper provides a practical reference to help enterprise information technology (IT) and business decision makers of the healthcare industry as they analyze and consider the implications of cloud computing on their business. The paper includes guidance and strategies designed to help these decision makers evaluate and compare cloud computing offerings in key areas from different cloud providers, taking into account different requirements from various actors including medical practices, hospitals, research facilities, insurance companies and governments.

“Modernization in the healthcare system includes use of cloud computing. According to our CSCC members, the use of cloud computing in healthcare will span clinical applications including physician order entry and software imaging and pharmacy use. Non-clinical uses will likewise benefit, including management apps for patient billing, claims and revenue cycle management. Healthcare providers, patients, pharmaceuticals, insurance companies and governments want successful strategies that help them innovate healthcare delivery via use of the Cloud. The CSCC has provided the strategy and guidance to help,” noted Mr. Greer.

Anyone interested in learning more about the “Impact of Cloud Computing on Healthcare” whitepaper should attend this free webinar. To register and download a free copy of the whitepaper visit http://www.cloud-council.org/healthcare-pr.

The Cloud Standards Customer Council (CSCC) is an OMG® end user advocacy group dedicated to accelerating cloud’s successful adoption, and drilling down into the standards, security and interoperability issues surrounding the transition to the cloud. The Council is not a standards organization, but will complement existing cloud standards efforts and establish a core set of client-driven requirements to ensure cloud users will have the same freedom of choice, flexibility, and openness they have with traditional IT environments. The Cloud Standards Customer Council is open to all end-user organizations. IBM, Kaavo, Rackspace and Software AG are Founding Sponsors.
