04/17/2006 - Sybase announced the availability of Sybase PowerBuilder 10.5, the next-generation rapid application development tool. PowerBuilder 10.5 features key functionality enhancements and improves the DataWindow, an industry leading patented data access, presentation, and manipulation tool. These enhancements provide total integration for client/server, distributed, and mobile applications.

PBNIServe
04/23/2006 - TopWizProgramming announced the release of PBNIServe. PBNIServe is a generic Windows Service program written in C. It uses the PBNI (PowerBuilder Native Interface) feature introduced in PowerBuilder 9 to execute functions in a non-visual userobject. A base service object is included that you inherit objects from. The C program calls the predefined functions and your PowerBuilder code is executed.

Financial Results
04/27/2006 - Sybase reported financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2006. Total license revenue increased 7% to $66.9 million from $62.7 million in the first quarter of 2005. Total revenues for the 2006 first quarter increased 2% to $195 million from $191.9 million for the first quarter of 2005.
Stock Repurchase
04/27/2006 - Sybase announced that its board of directors approved the repurchase of up to another $250 million of the company's outstanding common stock. The plan continues a repurchase program initially authorized by the board in February 1998. Before this increase, the amount had previously been increased several times to a total of $600 million to let Sybase use available cash to buy back its shares from time to time, subject to price and market conditions. Besides the repurchase program, in February 2005, the board authorized a $125 million share repurchase in connection with the company's private placement of $460 million in convertible subordinated notes. The board approved the expansion of the stock repurchase program even though a portion of the previously authorized monies in the program hadn't been used yet to fund repurchases. With the $250 million increase, the total amount available under the stock repurchase program is $284.9 million.

Mirror Activator is a leading business continuity solution that lets organizations dramatically reduce failover time and restore data availability in seconds (versus hours with other solutions) with no data loss in the event of a system failure. Mirror Activator has been available for Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise customers since 2004.

U.S. Census
04/27/2006 - Sybase announced that Harris Corporation has selected Sybase iAnywhere mobile technologies to power the 2010 U.S. Census, the largest-ever mobile software deployment. The 2010 U.S. Census will leverage the company's SQL Anywhere mobile database and synchronization solution, as well as its Afaria mobile device management and security technology, on more than 500,000 mobile handsets used by door-to-door census takers.

04/10/2006 - iAnywhere, a subsidiary of Sybase, announced that the Open University, the world's largest university dedicated to supporting distance learning, has purchased 6,500 licenses of the SQL Anywhere database technology for its Level Three course on relational databases. The Open University selected SQL Anywhere as its main software suite because it uses a comprehensive set of high-performance, low-maintenance technologies essential for the implementation and operation of database systems. SQL Anywhere provides enterprise database features including triggers, stored procedures, scalability for thousands of users, high performance and referential integrity, all in a very small footprint package. 04/10/2006 - iAnywhere, a subsidiary of Sybase, released a version of its XTNDConnect PC mobile device-to-desktop synchronization software with new support for Novell GroupWise. XTNDConnect PC is a software application that lets users synchronize contacts, calendars, tasks, e-mail, and notes between mobile devices and popular PC applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, Lotus Organizer, ACT!, and now Novell GroupWise. XTNDConnect PC is available in 11 languages and has been validated in the market with more than 50 million copies shipped.

04/05/2006 - iAnywhere, a subsidiary of Sybase, and Alltel, owner of the nation's largest wireless network, announced that the two companies will jointly market the popular AvantGo mobile Internet service to Alltel subscribers. This offer enables Alltel subscribers to take further advantage of Alltel's Axcess MobileLink unlimited data plan for smartphones. With AvantGo, Alltel smartphone users can wirelessly access optimized mobile websites such as CNET, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and thousands more.
