Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

United Airlines
03/21/2006 - As part of its attempt to improve the customer experience, United Airlines announced that it's enhancing customers' wireless access to flight information by adding real-time access to other pertinent travel information such as city guides, maps, and weather reports via handheld devices. United is partnering with iAnywhere, a subsidiary of Sybase, through its AvantGo mobile Internet service to make this information available to customers. The new feature offers United's flight and other travel information in a user-friendly format for customers on their handhelds. Lincoln Financial Group
03/07/2006 - Lincoln Financial Distributors, the wholesaling arm of Lincoln Financial Group, recently launched two new technology solutions for its wholesalers: a customer relationship management (CRM) application for RIM's BlackBerry device and a Web-based portal. Lincoln understands that its wholesalers are most effective when they're out on the job supporting their clients - financial advisors - in person. Until now, wholesalers had to spend at least some time desk-bound to input the data necessary for effectively managing those client relationships. Not anymore. Lincoln recently deployed these two new solutions to all of its wholesalers during its recent LFD National Sales Conference. The first, a customer-relationship management (CRM) application, was developed by Sybase iAnywhere for the BlackBerry. It enhances a similar CRM that Lincoln launched 18 months ago also in partnership with iAnywhere for Pocket PC-based PDAs.

Sybase TechWave 2006
TechWave is the most cost-effective, efficient, and valuable way to obtain product training, knowledge, and skills for using Sybase products. If purchased separately, comparable training, products and services plus additional travel and time away from the office would cost thousands of dollars more than the fee for this conference.
