May 11th-14th - Voiles Latines: a nostalgic glance back at historical sailing

Time to reserve dates in your diary for the important events and this season’s summer regattas on the French and Italian Rivieras. April 20th-23rd. Top Marques: the exclusive exhibition of luxury and super fast cars, limited edition launches and super expensive automobiles takes place in the Principality of Monaco at the Grimaldi Forum. www.topmarquesmonaco.com. May 11th-14th. Voiles Latines: a nostalgic glance back at historical sailing when traditional boats restored to their former glory gather and participate in this regatta (navigate without the aid of modern technology) in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. www.snst.org. May 17th- 28th. Cannes Film Festival. Movie magic and action as stars, film directors and producers as well as the entire movie industry descend on Cannes, dubbed the world’s movie capital. This year is the 59th edition and will open with a screening of ‘The Da Vinci Code’. May 19th-21st. Saint-Tropez Arabian Cup. The Saint-Tropez Polo Club hosts this unique polo event dedicated to these magnificent animals. May 25th-28th. Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix. The prestigious Automobile Club of Monaco hosts the 64th Formula 1 on the steep and winding streets of the Principality, hovering over the Mediterranean Sea. To order tickets the best way is to go straight to the source at www.acm.mc May 31st- June 4th. 11th edition Voiles d’Antibes-Trophee Panerai. Port Vauban in Antibes hosts the Classic Yachts Challenge with the most skilled sailors vying for the prestigious Panerai Trophy. This is followed by the Yacht Club of France Spring Cup between Antibes and La Spezia in Italy. The Panerai Trophy is an international championship on the Mediterranean for the traditional yachts. It welcomes a selection of the most beautiful traditional yachts built before 1950, Classics (built before 1976) and Spirit of Tradition yachts as well as the Metric Classes (6 MJI, 8MJI and the 12 MJI, which competed in the America’s Cup from 1958 to 1987). June 1st-4th. Cannes Croisette Cup. This is its inaugural year and competing yachts must be 100 foot plus. The brain child of Lionel Péan, avid sailor and co-founder of the European Big Boat Foundation and sponsored by prestigious diamond company De Beers this original Treasure Hunt Regatta, will take place on Friday 2nd and the trophy will go to the winning super yacht. This esteemed annual sailing regatta in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez sets hearts racing, followed by the race to Genoa in Italy. June 21st. Fête de la Musique.
