Guest Editorial PBDJ Guest Editorial — Thanks All Around
Thanks All Around

It's that time again - I was invited to be the guest editor for another issue of PBDJ. It's the second time now, and I want to say thank you to the many people who helped me a lot within the past year.
Also, the different PowerBuilder tools development teams keep me busy catching up on new things. It's either the PocketBuilder team inventing new stuff (thank you Reed for all the good work in the past and hopefully your team continues to build cool PocketPC applications in a snap), or the DataWindow.NET team who come up with new versions and functionality. This past year they showed us that we can build solid applications in the .NET world with our proven knowledge about the DataWindow. Additional greetings in this space to Dave and Jim who support the community in this area and also show the Microsoft guys how applications really should be built. And not to forget the core PowerBuilder development team who has already released PowerBuilder 10.5 (at the time of this writing) and who are working on version 11. Another great step forward. Another person who supported me within the past year was Harold; he is indeed a nice person who helps us TeamSybase members do our job (which is mainly to support Sybase developers in the newsgroups) properly. If a problem comes up, he is always around to help and a lot of issues were solved behind the scenes with his help (and he is also the one whom we can talk to if we totally disagree with something going on and who always tries to deescalate it, which he is very good with - he is really an old stager when it comes to Sybase internals). I don't want to forget all the other TeamSybase members; it's always a pleasure to talk with you and to share ideas. I don't want to forget my PowerBuilder customers and PowerBuilder developers here in Austria. Without their help PowerBuilder might not be the same product; they may not know it, but when they explain their problems to me, these problems are also addressed by the PowerBuilder engineers within Sybase. Thank you guys for the support and please continue to come to me in the future if you need someone to talk to about PowerBuilder. Last but not least, I want to say thank you to my wife; we had a hard time this past year, but she was always the solid rock that I was able to go to. I wish you a happy time reading this issue of PBDJ and have fun with all the PowerBuilder tools around! Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
