Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Web2.0 Company Photobucket Using AdManagerTo Serve Ads Across Non-traditional Media
Using the features provided by AdManager, Photobucket Improves Their CPM Rates Across Their Media Networks

Accipiter Solutions, an online advertising technology innovator announced the company has signed Photobucket, that will use its AdManager solution to serve ads across non-traditional mediums such as photocasts, mobile ad platforms, and advergaming technology.

“Our customers are looking beyond static banner ads and pop-ups to extend their available ad inventory and increase revenue opportunities,” said Brian Handly, Accipiter CEO. “As an increasing number of online users turn to trendsetting media sources, content providers are quickly adopting this concept, offering these unique alternatives to their customers.”

AdManager Hosted customer PhotoBucket provides a simple, fast, and reliable image, graphic art, and photo hosting service that enables efficient and open sharing and publishing online. According to a November 2005 Nielsen/NetRatings report, Photobucket experienced the greatest growth of any other Web site, growing an astounding 1,492 percent. Over the course of the year, the company has expanded its user base from 983,000 unique visitors per month to 15.6 million unique visitors per month.

Photobucket now serves over 50 billion images per month (20,000 per second) to popular destination sites such as eBay, Blogger, Neopets, Friendster, and MySpace. PhotoBucket already serves close to 1 billion ads per month and is on a run rate to grow its ad volume over 100% in just the next few months. Given Photobucket’s incredible ad serving growth, the need to have a scalable and reliable ad management solution was critical.

“We tried other ad delivery technologies early in our development, but they simply could not keep up with our load requirements,” said Alex Welch, CEO and Founder of PhotoBucket. “We are very pleased with AdManager’s ability to quickly scale to our increasing needs. Using the features provided by AdManager, we have been able to improve our CPM rates across our media networks.”

FilmLoop, a provider of free software that enables people and businesses to share, broadcast, and find photos also signed an AdManager Hosted contract with Accipiter. In the first three months since going live, FilmLoop has attracted more than 250,000 users, who uploaded more than nine million images.

FilmLoop and PhotoBucket recently announced a partnership that allows the more than 11 million Photobucket registered users to instantly create a FilmLoop “Loop” of their album. The Loop can be shared directly with family, friends, and colleagues, or linked on blogs and personal Web pages. This new technology is helping fuel growth across social network portals, providing advertisers with an effective way to reach consumers.

“We are able to offer more opportunities for our customers to increase sales through unique revenue management capabilities such as real-time inventory forecasting, campaign and creative performance optimization,” said Jeff Wood, vice president of sales and account management for Accipiter. “A large number of our new customers such as those featured above are taking advantage of AdManager’s unique ability to serve ads in any type of rich media format, including podcasts, photocasts, blogs, RSS feeds, mobile ad platforms, and streaming audio/video.”
