Lucent Technologies and Ubiquity Software Sign Global Agreement
Lucent Technologies Selects Ubiquity's SIP Application Server (SIP A/S) and Applications To Enhance Its VoIP and IMS-Based Solut

MURRAY HILL, N.J. and REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lucent Technologies and Ubiquity Software Corporation , today announced an agreement to deliver key IMS-ready applications and related communications technology to service providers worldwide.

Under the agreement, Lucent is integrating Ubiquity's market-leading SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) Application Server and applications as part of its industry-leading IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem)-based solution portfolio.

Ubiquity's proven applications portfolio, including mobile conferencing, IP multi-media conferencing, push-to-conference and mobile music sharing, complements Lucent's IMS-based solution that enables the delivery of "blended lifestyle" services -- resulting from interworking voice, data and video capabilities -- to subscribers anytime, anywhere. With Lucent and Ubiquity, carriers today can begin to develop and deploy these revenue-generating services that seamlessly integrate into their IMS deployment strategies.

Lucent also will resell Ubiquity's carrier-grade SIP application server and accompanying applications to customers requiring application creation and customization, with full support from Lucent Worldwide Services (LWS). In addition to the current joint selling into targeted carriers and enterprise accounts worldwide, Lucent and Ubiquity have been engaged in product and platform development activities focused on integration, interoperability and manageability to ensure readiness for commercial deployment.

"Ubiquity offers excellent, commercially proven SIP applications and a robust service creation environment that complement and expand upon our portfolio of IMS-based service platforms and applications," said Sandip Mukerjee, vice president, Lucent Technologies Applications Solutions Business Unit. "By integrating Ubiquity's SIP Application Server and IP-based applications into Lucent's offering, we are better able to help our customers rapidly deploy enhanced services that differentiate them from the competition, while offering the cost savings and efficiencies of IP networking."

Ubiquity also is part of Lucent's Market Advantage Program (MAP) for Application Partners. The MAP for Applications Partners offers a unique developer ecosystem that provides application developers and content providers with a rich set of resources such as software tools, training and accreditation programs, testing and demonstration resources and marketing support. The MAP for Application Partners program fosters the development of a vast array of applications that service providers can access to help them capture new revenue. Through the MAP program Ubiquity will be supported through sales training, development of joint go-to-market strategies and access to global sales channels.

"We are delighted to have our SIP Application Server and applications chosen as a complement to Lucent's world class IMS-based and VoIP solutions portfolio, said Ian McLaren, CEO of Ubiquity Software. "This agreement further expands Ubiquity's reach to service providers through Lucent's world- class, global sales, fulfillment and support channel. Backed by the LWS services team, this offers service providers a best-of-breed solution for application creation, deployment and integration."
