Unlike Chrome, litlOS is focused on creating a new and better web experience for the home, so we don't have the usual browser interface, we have our own innovative UI. In conjunction with easel mode (litl's inverted-V position) and our growing cohort of litl channels (special apps t...

MAX 2005 – New Macromedia Dreamweaver Extension Released by Early Impact
Demos "Insert ProductCart Code" Extension for its ProductCart Shopping Cart Software at Anaheim Conference

A new "Insert ProductCart Code" Extension giving Dreamweaver users access to even more tools to create a professional interface for their ProductCart stores has been released at MAX 2005 by Early Impact, an ecommerce software development company.

The new Extension allows users of Dreamweaver to more easily integrate any Web site with their ProductCart-powered ecommerce store – ProductCart is used by thousands of ecommerce stores around the world.

One of ProductCart's most appreciated features, according to the company, is its ability to be easily integrated with virtually any Web design, so that the ecommerce portion of the Web site blends seamlessly with the rest of the pages.

This is accomplished by "including" two interface files when any storefront page is generated. An already available Dreamweaver Extension, called "Create ProductCart Header and Footer" allows users to create those files from any page with one click. The new "Insert ProductCart Code" Extension, says Early Impact, gives Dreamweaver users access to even more tools to create a professional interface for their ProductCart stores, and link any page in their Web site to the dynamic pages generated by the shopping cart. After opening a page in Dreamweaver, users will be able to quickly "drop" onto the page a number of links and code snippets to make the page interact with the shopping cart.

Among other things, Early Impact notes, Dreamweaver users will now be able to easily:

  • Add a text or image link to any of the following pages generated by ProductCart: browse by category, view specials, view best sellers, view new arrivals, view basket, advanced search, etc.
  • Add a "Buy Now" button to any page, for any product that has been added to the store database.
  • Insert a "Search Box" on any page: the search box allows visitors to the Web site to search the store catalog by doing a keyword search. The new Extension allows the store manager to set variables such as how many products will be shown on the search results page and how they will be displayed.
  • Insert a "Category-driven Navigation." A code snippet written in ASP (active server pages) will be automatically added to the page. The code connects the page to the ProductCart database and creates a dynamic navigation menu that can include categories, subcategories, and even products.
  • Insert a "Shopping Cart Summary." Another ASP code snippet will be added to the page, showing a summary of the shopping cart contents to the store visitor, if one or more products have been added to the cart, and featuring a quick link to start the checkout process.
  • Insert an "Account Login Box." This code snippet shows an account login form to customers that are not already logged into their account, and then changes into an account menu once they log in.

The new Dreamweaver Extension is available free of charge to all ProductCart users. ProductCart is available from Early Impact and its resellers starting at $495 per storefront.
