MAX 2005 – Macromedia Kick-Starts Macromedia Consulting Europe; Acquires iteration::two
Creates a European Rich Internet Application Consulting Organization Based in Edinburgh, Scotland

"By aligning our growth with that of the Macromedia Consulting initiative for Europe, we are able to achieve the scale necessary to deliver successfully to the early majority of the mass-market," said Steven Webster (pictured), cofounder and director of iteratyion::two, as Macromedia, with a definitive share purchase agreement, acquired the Scotland-based company, which will now become the enterprise Rich Internet Application practice of Macromedia Consulting EMEA – helping to ensure that strategic clients and partners are successful in their delivery of Rich Internet Applications on the Macromedia Flash Platform.

Under the terms of the definitive share purchase agreement, Macromedia will acquire all outstanding shares of iteration::two Limited. Steven Webster and Alistair McLeod, founders and directors of iteration::two, will both assume roles as Rich Internet Application practice directors (EMEA) in the new consulting organisation, reporting to Peter Lelliott, the recently appointed regional managing director for Macromedia Consulting EMEA. iteration::two consultants will assume roles in the new practice from the current iteration::two offices in Edinburgh.

“For the last four years, iteration::two has evangelized the Rich Internet Application message, while growing in strength and reputation through delivery of world-leading solutions to the early adopters,” said Webster. “In concert with this effort, we have been working closely with the early majority of the mass-market, primarily in the financial service, telecoms, healthcare and government sectors.”

“In addition to developing a consulting methodology that enables clients to understand how they can be successful with Rich Internet Applications, we have established development techniques for the successful delivery of those applications,” said McLeod. “Our consultants have been responsible for establishing and evangelising state-of-the-art online experiences. Steven and I are excited to have the opportunity to grow a European-wide consulting organisation, based in Scotland , around this knowledge capital.”

“Macromedia Consulting EMEA expects growth across Europe to support our partners and clients with our enterprise offerings,” said Lelliott. “The acquisition of iteration::two is a natural step in supporting enterprise Rich Internet Applications. The iteration::two team are at the forefront in the consulting and delivery of Rich Internet Applications. They have gained a great deal of respect in the business community for their strategy, architecture and development, while also winning the hearts and minds of the development community through their writing and open-source Rich Internet Application solutions. By growing our consulting business in Europe around iteration::two, we are immediately able to offer an enhanced consulting service to our combined clients.”

Webster concluded, “We will be creating a world-class consulting practice in Edinburgh that is unique in delivering state-of-the-art solutions with state-of-the-art technologies. iteration::two was founded in the belief that Rich Internet Applications would be the dominant platform for the delivery of effective business online and has played a pivotal role in establishing the market. As Macromedia Consulting EMEA, we now look forward to delivering on our promise of the next evolution of the Internet.”
