UnboundID Identity Management Platform Supports Cloud Computing
New Platform Enables Customer-Centric Identity Architectures

At the GlueCon Conference, UnboundID Corp., a developer of identity management software for Internet-driven, consumer-facing architectures, announced the release of Version 2.2 of its Directory Services platform, which includes the UnboundID Directory Server, the UnboundID Directory Proxy Server, and the UnboundID Synchronization Server. The new platform enables customer-centric identity architectures and provides enhancements designed to support cloud computing and subscriber-based services, including large-scale business-to-consumer applications.

UnboundID CEO Steve Shoaff will provide details on the company’s new directory services offering at 2:10 p.m. MDT today at the GlueCon Conference during a session titled: “Next-gen LDAP: The Original NoSQL Makes a Comeback.”

“Increasingly highly personalized services are driving a need for fast and secure access to identity data. We rely on the latest version of UnboundID Directory Services Platform, available within the telecommunications market as the Alcatel-Lucent 8661 Directory Server, to help power today’s customer-centric, real-time data needs for the enablement of innovative new applications and functionalities,” said Gani Nayak, Senior Vice President of Interactive Media and Communications for Alcatel-Lucent’s Applications business.

The UnboundID Directory Services Platform is designed to run database-like functions with the performance and speed of a traditional directory. New features that help support these capabilities include:

  • LDAP Join – an industry first, this feature allows a directory server to act like a database by gathering multiple pieces of identity data through a single search. In addition, it enables developers to use the directory server with many more applications that previously only used a database.
  • Rate Limiting – enables service providers to map the number, types and rates of specific operations performed within the directory to the bandwidth and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) they have in place with individual customers. As a result, better service provisioning can be delivered for subscriber-based offerings.
  • Replication Traffic Compression reduces the data footprint sent between different directory environments, improving the efficiency of data movement during replication. This helps service providers with globally distributed data sets and network connectivity constraints to better manage service delivery in various regions.

“Legacy identity management technology cannot support the high-volume cloud computing and subscriber applications that are prevalent in today’s increasingly mobile world,” said Stephen Shoaff, co-founder and CEO of UnboundID. “Our directory services 2.0 offering, however, enables the customer-centric architecture needed to bring these new applications to life.”

UnboundID develops a new class of identity management applications designed to process billions of entries and transactions to support the demands of today’s multi-channel applications, such as cloud-based systems, texting and smart phone applications. The UnboundID software solution suite includes the UnboundID Directory Server, the UnboundID Directory Proxy Server, the UnboundID Synchronization Server, as well as the industry’s only updated and maintained LDAP software development toolkit – the UnboundID LDAP SDK for Java.
