Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Valaran Will Integrate Its Application Platform With BEA WebLogic, Joins BEA Partner Program
Company Will Provide Solution for SOA-Based Edge Computing

"We are pleased to be working with BEA and recognize their leadership position in integration and commitment to SOA-based solutions," said Darrell Jennings, CEO, Valaran Corporation, as it was today announced that Valaran has joined the growing list of companies in BEA Systems' Partner Program.

Dallas-based Valaran, provider of a service-oriented platform for distributing and executing business logic on or near highly distributed edge devices,  plans to integrate its application platform with BEA WebLogic to provide enterprise customers and government agencies with products designed to integrate and execute business logic on edge technologies and devices such as Zigbee, RFID sensor readers, biometric scanners, IT appliances, IT switches, wireless PDAs, and mobile phones.

"Our relationship with BEA will allow us to provide solutions for the development, deployment and management of applications aimed at the integration of rapidly emerging edge devices back to the center of the enterprise. We believe this will be of great benefit to our mutual customers," Jennings added.

The Valaran platform is designed to reduce cost and risk associated with integrating rapidly changing heterogeneous edge technologies, and can help to extend the reach of major J2EE and Web Services solutions already established in the market.

A minor correction, Valaran is based in Princeton, NJ, not Dallas. Thanks.
