Nov. 24, 2009 10:30 AM
Option, the wireless technology company, today announced that its GTM501 will be used in MOTO Development Group's Android 2.0 Media Platform (AMP) offering reduced time-to-market for next-generation multi-touch consumer and enterprise electronics device developers. This project further demonstrates the Option's strategy to support innovative Original Equipment Manufacturers and Original Design Manufacturers integrating 3G connectivity. MOTO Development Group recently launched its AMP development platform for consumer and enterprise electronics designed to run Google's Android(TM) 2.0 mobile operating system. Consumer Electronics (CE) companies can leverage MOTO's full-featured and flexible Android Media Platform to facilitate user experience and interface prototyping, develop software, extend hardware capabilities and reduce time to market for high-volume 2011 Android mobile connected devices. MOTO's 5" handheld AMP development platform running Android 2.0 and Texas Instruments' OMAP processor is available for customization today; pocket and tablet form factor mobile computing and entertainment product utilizing next generation OMAP processors are in development for availability in 2010. Jan Callewaert, CEO at Option: "We're very happy to partner with MOTO Development Group on embedding 3G capabilities in their Android 2.0 Development Platform. Our GTM501 - the world's smallest HSPA module - is ideally suited for this type of thin connected devices. It is Option's core strength to provide a total 3G solution - including high valued services, software and hardware - to innovative companies like Moto." "MOTO's Android development platform will help companies prototype, design software, and rapidly market the next generation connected devices that tap into web services, mobility, and internet functionality - all the factors driving innovation in consumer electronics today," said J. Daniell Hebert, CEO of MOTO. Specifications for MOTO Android Media Platform (AMP): http://www.moto.com/amp/amp_specs.shtml Enterprise Open Source Magazine Latest Stories . . .
