.NET News Desk Chinese Court Orders Windows Off the Market
Microsoft says it has a license from Zhongyi and will appeal

A court in China, where most software is pirated, has ordered Microsoft to stop selling the Chinese versions of its operating systems because they infringe on fonts owned by a Chinese company called Zhongyi Electronic. Microsoft says it has a license from Zhongyi and will appeal. Zhongyi says the license only applies to Windows 95.
Microsoft makes very little money in China because of piracy so even if the injunction maintained it wouldn't lose much. The decision will likely be scrutinized for a political message. A couple of years ago the FBI and some Chinese cops busted a Chinese ring responsible for distributing an estimated $2 billion worth of bogus Microsoft software of all stripes and languages worldwide.
