Industry News Desk Terry Woloszyn, CEO/CTO of PerspecSys, Speaks at GovIT Expo
Cloud adoption and requirements are in conflict

"Cloud adoption and requirements are in conflict," stated Terry Woloszyn, CEO/CTO of PerspecSys, in his general session today at the 1st Government IT Conference & Expo in Washington, D.C.
Privacy laws dictate how to keep data private and how to govern accessibility to that date. What's put the cloud doesn't share privacy laws, as the cloud vendor doesn't own the data, you do. Woloszyn then discussed what the options are for protecting your information and the difference between public and private clouds. With public clouds you need to encrypt the data. A mashup of public and private clouds can also be used. He also noted that data security is a concern with public clouds as data can be accessible to foreign nationals. A Cloud application should not affect performance; there should not be any change to existing operational standards. However, you many run into problems when encrypting data in the cloud - browser plugins, key management, location transparency, etc.
PRS solutions allow organizations to adopt Cloud-based applications, while maintaining total control of their private and sensitive data, thereby helping to ensure that they are compliant with the legislative, regulatory and policy requirements imposed by their geography, industry, or company.
