Unlike Chrome, litlOS is focused on creating a new and better web experience for the home, so we don't have the usual browser interface, we have our own innovative UI. Sybase Continues to Extend Its Enterprise Mobility Leadership
73% of the global enterprise workforces will be mobile users by 2012, says Forrester

"Sybase is a proven leader in device management software and together we are well placed to minimize the pain points for customers through our new highly accessible, comprehensive managed mobility service," said Nancy Gofus, senior vice president of global business products at Verizon, as it was announced today that Sybase and Verizon are teaming up to enable multinational companies to effectively manage the deployment and ongoing support of their growing mobile workforce.

“As we continue to extend our enterprise mobility leadership, we are extremely pleased to team up with a leading managed service provider in Verizon,” said Terry Stepien (pictured), president, Sybase iAnywhere. “Enterprise mobility has moved beyond line of business applications to include a much wider group of wireless consumers or information workers. Both Sybase and Verizon recognize this rapid change and are in the unique position to provide an easy-to-consume service that reduces the complexities of today’s ‘on-the-go’ enterprise,” he added.

Verizon’s new offering is called Managed Mobility Solutions, Gofus explained. It utilizes Sybase’s proven mobility services expertise and best-in-class enterprise device management platform to help global businesses manage the complexities surrounding the increasing number of mobile information workers.

“As enterprises today strive to incorporate mobility to stay competitive, increase productivity and meet employee demand, they are seeing significant manageability issues across the entire organization,” she said. Managing multiple fixed and mobile operator contracts and communication costs, selecting mobile devices, network interoperability and device management and security are unwieldy for most enterprises, noted Gofus.

According to leading independent research company Forrester Research, Inc., 73 percent of the global enterprise workforces will be mobile users by 2012. This represents 187.9 million mobile users in 2008, growing to 397.1 million users in 2012 (Enterprise Mobile User Forecast: Mobile "Wannabes" Are The Fastest-Growing Segment, October 2008).

Verizon Managed Mobility Solutions is highly flexible and user-friendly and offers an integrated solution in key areas including: inventory and expense management, logistics, mobile device management and security, and application management. Sybase was selected to support the mobile device management and security modules of the new Verizon managed service:

  • Mobile Device Management for delivering tools, applications and data to employees in a timely manner, and creating and enforcing flexible mobile policies across devices, groups or individual users
  • Mobile Security that enforces access codes, establishes “lock/wipe” policies, encrypts devices and data cards, delivers firewall and antivirus applications, and supports mobile access to corporate applications.
