Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

IXIASOFT DITA CMS Solution v2.6 Now Available
IXIASOFT's latest version of the DITA CMS solution offers enhances search, speed and overall usability to manage technical documentation

MONTREAL, CANADA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/18/09 -- IXIASOFT, the XML content management market leader, announced the availability of version 2.6 of its DITA CMS solution. With this new version, organizations can further leverage the topic-oriented architecture of DITA and maintain their competitive advantages.

IXIASOFT's DITA CMS is a content management solution enabling technical communicators to author, manage and publish their DITA content efficiently. Leading organizations such AMD, Isilon Systems and Sybase have all adopted IXIASOFT's DITA CMS solution to ensure on-time delivery of their DITA-based technical documentation in a cost-effective manner.

"We are enthusiastic about IXIASOFT's DITA CMS, which has proven to be pivotal in our efforts to increase our documentation team's overall productivity. In fact, since our installation of the CMS in 2006, we have had seen an over 200% increase in content production while having the same number of staff."said Keith Schengili-Roberts, Documentation and Localization Manager at AMD.

Highlights of the DITA CMS Framework v2.6 include:

A new interface for search and search results - the solution's flexible search tool enable users to quickly find and reuse their DITA topics, images and maps. New features include saving search queries and exporting of search results.

A powerful relationship table editor - the most advanced DITA relationship table editor, with unique drag and drop capability to quickly create relations between topics, as well as a relationship overview feature to easily find everything a topic is linked to. Using relationship tables is a key feature to increase reusability. Information architects will love how easy it is to create relationship tables, especially when using the intuitive drag and drop feature.

"The relationship table editor makes it easy to create and maintain relationship tables in an intuitive user interface. Our users especially like the ability to easily find all relationship table rows for a topic in the map, using the Relationship Outline view. The drag-and-drop action for a topic or node and the ability to name a row are other features the Information Architects appreciate." said Anna Hartman, Technical Publications Solutions Manager at Sybase.

Enhanced overall usability - the new version of the DITA CMS solution offers a list of key features allowing an easy navigation within the CMS. These include:

- A dependency view ("where-used" feature), enabling users to quickly find how and where topics are reused.

- Ability to use an external diff tool (in addition to the one provide with the DITA CMS), for advanced xml-aware comparison.

- Drag and drop multiple topics to the map editor to quickly create maps from search results.

- Greatly improved speed of the application, combined with the ability to put tasks in background, allows better productivity from users.

"This new version of the DITA CMS enhances the user-experience by enabling technical writers to quickly navigate within the interface and manipulate their content freely." said Eric Bergeron, President of IXIASOFT. "By increasing productivity and producing cost-effective documentation, organizations are able to achieve their goals quickly, a crucial objective during challenging economic times."
