Commtouch Expands its Cloud Infrastructure with Launch of Washington, DC Detection Center

Commtouch® (NASDAQ:CTCH) today announced the expansion of its cloud infrastructure with the launch of a new detection center in Washington, DC, the Company’s fifth worldwide.

Commtouch’s Recurrent Pattern Detection™ (RPD™) and Data Cloud technologies currently process more than two billion Internet transactions each week within the Company’s globally distributed detection centers to identify new messaging and Web threat outbreaks as they are initiated.

“As Web and email traffic and threats continue to increase rapidly, this new center will allow us to more efficiently and effectively serve our growing customer base,” said Yossi Maslaton, Commtouch’s vice president of network operations and customer services. “We will be better equipped to handle the growing volumes of queries and real-time information analysis in the US, and our East Coast customers will benefit from higher quality of service with less latency.”

In addition to the Washington, DC facility, Commtouch maintains two additional US facilities, one in Hong Kong and another in the United Kingdom. The detection centers have been strategically located around the globe to provide Commtouch partners and their customers with full coverage and service regardless of their geographic location. The new center will also enhance the availability and failover capabilities of the Commtouch infrastructure.

Commtouch detection centers serve the Company’s messaging and Web security solutions: Anti-Spam, Zero-Hour™ Virus Outbreak Protection, GlobalView™ Mail Reputation Service, GlobalView URL Filtering and GlobalView Zombie Intelligence Service. These offerings are integrated in an OEM model within security vendors’ products, such as unified threat management devices, managed security services, message transfer agents, and gateway and desktop software.

The global infrastructure enables Commtouch to provide superior security solutions with a distributed ‘in the cloud’ delivery method, thus providing the company’s customers access to real-time threat prevention patterns with a small local footprint. End-customers have the ability to leverage the vast processing power of Commtouch’s infrastructure, extracting and caching just the relevant updates.
