Moving up the stack to PaaS and SaaS the use of virtualisation may, as you say, be less required if you put lots of smarts into your software. A lot of software does not have those smarts and by utalising virtualisation of the layers below can manipulate existing software architectures to have more cloudy attributes through automation (eg run load balancers and deploy more servers automagically). Over time, as new investment in software at...

SOA World Expo: Managed Methods Announces JaxView 5.0
Managed Methods – Boulder, Colorado announces the release of JaxView 5.0.

Managed Methods Inc. (www.managedmethods.com) the leader in SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) visibility and SOA runtime governance today announced the availability of their SOA  management and runtime governance product  JaxView 5.0. While providing full support for SOA and Web service management for the IT operations, JaxView 5.0 expanded runtime policy enforcement features such as expanded service virtualization and visibility into intra-container message communication.

"We are exceptionally pleased with our customer adoption of JaxView agentless deployment for SOA visibility and SOA management. As well, we are excited about JaxView's ability to provide visibility into the intra-container message communication in application brokers such as AquaLogic and Sonic service buses as those communications never enter the network realm and are located within a single container. "states Al Aghili Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Managed Methods Inc.

"This addition will allow us to provide true end to end visibility into transaction processes across many protocols including HTTP, JMS, JDBC, and RMI." states Aghili.

JaxView 5.0 Service Virtualization and Versioning features include:

o   Creating a new 'Virtual Service' by consolidating one or more operations from different services.

o   Hiding specific operations within the service or for different consumers of the service or based on a schedule.

o   Dynamically creating WSDL's for the new Virtual Service.

o   Publishing multiple versions of the same service.

o    Ensuring backwards compatibility of the new service.

Visibility Into Intra-Container Messages Via Agents
This feature allows our non invasive agents to provide visibility into intra-container messages. These services reside on a single container and in some cases the communication never leaves the server or enters the messaging bus. JaxView's non-intrusive agents can provide visibility into such containers. The container types  include BEA WebLogic, BEA AquaLogic and WLI, JBoss, WebSphere, and Progress Sonic ESB.

Support for Windows Integrated Authentication
JaxView is the only J2EE product that can perform policy enforcement as a gateway in SOA environments that are secured using Windows Integrated Authentication. JaxView can enforce brokering policies without modifying the original clients credential and delegating those credentials to the back end services. JaxView supports both NTLM and Kerberos authentication mechanisms.
